Dereck Ramirez visits Humboldt for King of America XII
Dereck Ramirez returned to the driver’s seat of his Koda Services No. 4R Modified on Thursday evening as the King of America XII presented by Shocker Hitch kicked off at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kan.).
Joining a stout field of 62 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries for the three-day event, Ramirez came in sixth in his heat before grabbing the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his B-Main. With $3,000 on the line in the preliminary feature, Dereck gained six positions to finish 18th.
With Friday’s program falling to Mother Nature, Dereck raced his way into Saturday’s King of America XII finale with a ninth-to-fourth run in his B-Main after finishing seventh in his heat. Earning the 23rd-starting position for the $12,000-to-win A-Main, Ramirez was an early retiree from the 60-lap affair with 13 circuits remaining.
